Hello Jan,
Thank you for your feedback. Indeed, Ambition, Objectives and goals, and Impact expected
have similarities. We consider they are three facets of the three main questions: how are
we going to change the game? With this in mind, the Ambition describe the advance which
will be made in general on the matter delimited by the activity while the Expected impact
will be more about the big changes this will make in the society at large. Finally, the
Goals and objectives will be more operational description of what has to be performed to
reach the Ambition (which in turn will help enabling the Expected impact).
For example, to take the field of privacy, this would give something along the following
lines:
Ambition: put the citizens in control of their personal data
Goals and objectives: develop a data tracking technology, develop a data recall
technology, develop an enforcement framework
Expected impact: rebalance the asymmetry between the citizens and the GAFAs, profoundly
change economically viable personal data intensive business models
Concerning the background policy, this is about the regulatory context or institutional
dynamics at play which can impact the activities. In data protection, we can of course
mention the GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive and the current project to have an ePrivacy
Regulation, guides and good practices given by Data Supervisory Authorities, …
Does it make sense to you?
Best regards,

Subject: Re: [SPARTA network.leads] SPARTA Network K-O slides
Dear All,
some fast feedback:
- having all Ambition, Goals&Objectives and Impact Expected topics as separate slides
seems a bit redundant to me,
- what do we mean by Policy Background? In particular w.r.t. the WP9 Training and
Awareness this is not clear to me,
- 21 slides for 20 minutes seems a bit too much,
- 11/2 is ok for the first draft, but I doubt I’ll be able to get the feedback from WP
members on time.
Best :-)
Jan

Dear Network leaders,
As SPARTA starts up, our first order of business is to refine the activities workplans. We
propose using the slides for the SPARTA Kick-off as a first point of convergence.
Attached is a proposed plan for these presentations. As you can notice, we kept the
notions of State of the Art and Ambition generally used for the technical activities. We
thought it could be interesting to explore how we can have the same approach in
non-technical activities as well, aiming at making good practices progress as well.
Feedback is very welcome!
Given the short timeframe, could you share your initial versions of slides by 11/2? (We
are trying to have a Powerpoint template ready very soon; do not yet spend too much time
on formatting!)
Best regards,
