Good afternoon.

As ELSA auditor for the SPARTA Project, I’m glad to announce the kick-off for the Second Internal ELSA Audit. As WP Leader, your participation is required and much appreciated.

This year’s audit will engage additional participants (that are not WP Leaders), thus broadening the scope of the initiative.

Last year’s results were reported in deliverable D2.2 (M12). This year’s results will be reported in deliverable D2.4 (M24).

For this audit, we will use the same methodology as last year, using a simplified process for WP Leaders:

• No interview is required;
• Just reply to this message until November 9^th with the required 26 ratings, using the attached file “ELSA-Audit-control-objectives-M24-WP-Leaders-V2.3.xlsx”.

To complete your audit task, please follow the instructions below:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROVIDING THE ELSA RATINGS

1. Create a copy of the attached Excel file “ELSA-Audit-control-objectives-M24-WP-Leaders-V2.3.xlsx”.
2. Select the Excel sheet “Control objectives”.
3. For each of the 26 statements in Column E, select a rating in Column D, using the drop-down list:
1. Values allowed: FA / LA / PA / NA. The meaning of the rating scale can be found in the Excel sheet “Rating Scale”.
2. For your reference, the values provided in last year’s ELSA Audit may be found in the attached file “Last-year-ELSA-Audit-results.xlsx”.
4. Save your ratings’ Excel file.
5. Reply to this message (Reply To: goncalo.cadete@inov.pt ), including your ratings’ Excel file as an attachment.

Good afternoon.

As ELSA auditor for the SPARTA Project, I’m glad to announce the time plan regarding the First Internal ELSA Audit engagements.

At this stage, you are simply required to setup a telco for a 60-min audit session, according to the proposed time plan and further instructions below.

In the SPARTA Project, the ELSA acronym stands for Ethical, Legal, and Societal Aspects, in the context of “WP2 - Responsible innovation: ethical, legal and societal aspects”.

According to the description of work:

Cybersecurity research and innovations will have sustainable success only if ethical and societal impacts – both short-term and long-term opportunities, constrains, and threats – are assessed and prioritized alongside technical and commercial impacts.

Compatibility of innovations with the legal framework is obviously of fundamental importance.

This audit initiative is the first engagement of a set of three yearly engagements, to be reported in M12, M24, and M36.

Along the way, we aim to build our ELSA awareness and capabilities, as well as ensure high ELSA standards, as a continual improvement process.

The Ethics Committee and myself have worked to ensure a lightweight and constructive audit engagement.

Your feedback will be much appreciated, namely to improve future (i.e. M24, M36) audit engagements.

TIMEPLAN

The time plan for the First Internal ELSA Audit is the following:

• 9^th December: first day of 60-min audit engagements;
• 13^th December: second day of 60-min audit engagements.
• Last call: if required, we’ll setup an additional date after December 13^th .

Also, more information regarding the audit methodology will be provided on 6^th December.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOOKING AND CONDUCTING YOUR AUDIT SESSION (TELCO)

1. BOOKING: Please send me a calendar invitation (To: goncalo.cadete@inov.pt) to book our calendars:
1. For a 60-min telco session
2. between 9:00 and 19:00 CET (UTC +1hour)
3. either on 9^th December or 13^th December
4. please indicate your Skype ID, or alternative telco setup details
5. we’ll book on a “first-come first-served” basis; therefore, please book your timeslot ASAP, according to your preferences.
2. CONDUCTING: we’ll use the Skype app for the telco session.
1. My Skype ID is goncalo.rodrigues.cadete .
2. An alternative telco setup is also acceptable. In this case, we’ll need to test the setup in advance, until 6^th December.
3. No preparation is required from you, although additional information will be provided on 6^th December.
